Choosing The Right Lighter Fluid Makes A Difference

People who are passionate about smoking cigars are equally as passionate about choosing what they light their cigars with. The type of lighter as well as the type of lighter fluid used can mean all the difference in the overall smoking experience. There are lighters that have characteristics that make them ideal for lighting cigars.

Unlike an ordinary lighter used to light a cigarette, a cigar lighter must burn at a higher temperature. Smokers will have to choose between propane and butane lighters. Each type has its own unique characteristics and which you choose will be based on your personal preference.

The Differences Between Propane and Butane

Both fuels will produce a flame that is windproof. Propane will burn slower and at a lower temperature which makes butane the fuel of choice for most cigar smokers. A butane lighter will also give the user more consistent flame each time it is lit. That faster burning time will translate into more fuel use, so you can expect to have to refill the lighter more often.

Propane will not burn as fast but it also takes slightly longer to heat up. This difference should not be enough to make a significant difference as long as you use the proper technique to light the cigar. Lighting up a cigar take a little more skill than lighting a cigarette despite what many people may think.

Lighters Fluid may be found in local retail stores of all kinds. There are also several sources for lighters online. You will also find websites with information about the proper way to light a cigar and where to purchase supplies.
